The Ultimate Guide To Content Marketing

Free content marketing guide

Content Marketing which is all about adding valuable content to your website, primarily through your blog.

The reason for this is that adding content to your website on a regular basis is a BIG DEAL.

How big? Well, it is estimated that even a small business website with a blog can get up over 50% more traffic than their (non-blog) competitors.

What is really incredible though is that this TRAFFIC INCREASES EXPONENTIALLY if that blog adds new content each week.

Yes, you read that correctly: New Content = LOTS OF EXTRA TRAFFIC!!

There are many reasons for this but for now let’s just agree on one thing: Google LOVES blogs because it LOVES all that fresh, new content.

It even has a nice shiny name: Content Marketing

Why Content Marketing is important to you

The following infographic shows you in detail exactly what you have to do to create a powerful content marketing strategy for your website.

The Definitive Guide to eCommerce Content Marketing

So what does this mean to you?

What it means is that if you want to get more visitors & more business through your website then one thing you absolutely MUST DO is set up a blog & start adding content to it.

And here’s the really important point:

THE VAST MAJORITY OF YOUR COMPETITORS WILL NOT BE DOING THIS!!!

Don’t believe me? Check out your main competitors & see how many have a blog. If they have, when was the last time they posted something?

You see, the vast majority of business owners do not have a coherent internet or content marketing strategy. But that is good news for you.

In fact, that is the exact reason that we wrote our book – to help our customers to get a DISTINCT ADVANTAGE over the competition.

So let’s just re-cap:

  • Websites with blogs can get 50% more traffic than non-blog websites
  • Websites with blogs that add new content each week get exponentially MORE TRAFFIC than those that don’t
  • Google LOVES fresh, new content
  • The VAST MAJORITY of your competitors will not have a blog and those that do will not be frequently updated

So far, so good. However…

We have noticed that there is a problem. From talking to many of our customers the same questions keep cropping up when it comes to blogging: What should I write about? How do I create a blog? How do I get Google to find my blog posts?

So what we thought would be useful would be to give you a step by step guide to how to do all of this so that you can get all of that traffic coming to your website.

      Hi Richard,

I look forward to seeing it. Remember to do some keyword research first to try to target the right keywords & then include them in your blog posts as I describe in the workbook & don’t forget to optimize every post for maximum effect.

      Hi Vic,
You are welcome. Good luck & let us know how you get on. I noticed that the donate button takes you to PayPal but it shows in Polish & the Polish currency. Is it possible to change that to English & maybe show in GBP or USD & that way people may feel more comfortable making a contribution as they will know how much they are donating. Just a thought, but sometimes these little changes make a huge difference.

      All the best,
      Tony

Thanks for that. Looks like you are in a fortunate position because you are in a niche (jewellery) that probably has a never ending source of potential content to write about. I look forward to seeing your blog grow over the coming months & seeing you get a load of traffic!

      Hi Ginny,

You are too kind – thank you. You have a great opportunity with your blog to talk about subjects around your central focus of weddings in Lake Garda. You can talk about the area, history, things to do, nearby attractions, etc. as well as offering hints & tips for the perfect wedding. Also maybe invite guest bloggers to write for you so that you are not always coming up with the content.

      Keep me posted!
      Tony

      Hi Nick,

We never stop even on Saturday´s!! Hope you like the guide. Don´t forget the free marketing guide too at http://www.pickaweb.co.uk/blog/marketing-plan-template/ – it will really give you clarity on your marketing.

Great guitars too! Maybe you can create a blog that shows the process of making the guitars & also maybe you could have featured clients showing off their guitars. You have a great niche where you can get a lot of content ideas as well as customer involvement. Videos would be great too so YouTube can play a part.

      Keep us posted.
      All the best,
      Tony

Thanks for the video, the Blog idea is good, but could you go further by making changes to all/other pages on a site? I wonder about this, do the ranking values of pages decay over time? Also pulling viewers to a blog is fine, but what you really want is for them to land on your front page, so presumably that should be the focus of change, or do I miss the point, is it not just any kind of change but added content that matters? — any how I don’t know, is there any guidance on this?

    Thanks for the vid

    Hi Terry,
    Thank you for commenting.
By having a blog you are sending signals to the search engines that you have a live site that is active, creates content on a regular basis on your subject. You are basically telling them that you are an expert in your field.
You are also speaking to an interested community & if you have good content the search engines will pick up the social activity.
Of course you should always try to improve your sales pages too, optimize them but not everyone wants to buy from you from day 1.
It could take days, weeks, months for your ideal customer to decide to go for your services. Having a blog that shares the information that they are insterested, that answers the questions they have always helps.
Also try to share on social media. Good content gets shared and people talk about it.
    Hope it helps.
    All the best.
    Pilar 🙂

      Hi David,

Good to see you are putting it to use – I can see some great recent blog posts.

Do you find that you ever struggle for content ideas? The only reason I ask is because you are in the fortunate position that in your field you have an almost endless stream of content ideas. Some people are not so fortunate.

If you need a few ideas let me know here & I will give you some ideas.

      All the best,
      Tony
