Use this video tutorial to learn how to configure forwarding and set up POP/IMAP access for your Gmail account.

When using Gmail, you’re provided with the option of choosing whether you would access the account using POP or IMAP. Once you have configured POP/IMAP access for your Gmail account, you can easily manage emails using either Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook. In addition, you can also forward all your emails to a particular email address you may want to use. You can complete this task within minutes.

Here are the steps you’ll need to follow –

  1. Log in to your Gmail inbox.
  2. Click on the Settings link at the top of the page as shown in the video.
  3. Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  4. Select the incoming email forwarding option.
  5. Enter the email address where you’d like to forward your emails.
  6. Select Archive Gmail’s copy from the drop-down.

Email forwarding has been configured. Now, let’s set up POP/IMAP access for your Gmail account.

  1. Select this option – Enable POP for all email.
  2. Select Archive Gmail’s copy from the drop-down.
  3. Configure your email client by clicking the Configuration instructions link.
  4. Select Enable IMAP (more preferable than POP).
  5. If not required, leave it disabled.
  6. Finally, click the Save Changes button.

That’s how you can have both the forwarding of emails and POP/IMAP access configured for your Gmail account.
