Domain forwarding explainedDomain forwarding allows you to redirect a domain name to whatever web address you require.

There are several options for redirecting or forwarding your domain name:

Here’s how to get it done –

Parked Domain (Domain Parking)

Domain Parking allows you to redirect a domain name to another website.

For example: If you have a hosting for eg: domain1.com & you have also registered domain2.com then you can park it so that when someone visits domain2.com then they are instantly redirected to domain1.com

If you have a web hosting service with Pickaweb then you can redirect another domain name to it for free. This is called domain parking and is really easy to set up through your hosting control panel using the Parked Domains link.

The first thing that you need to do is to amend the nameservers of any domains that you wish to park to be exactly the same as those of your main hosting domain. You can verify these settings by doing a whois search.

Once you have done this please watch and listen to the following tutorial which will demonstrate how to park your domain.

Addon Domains

If you have a web hosting service with Pickaweb then you can create completely new wesbites for different domains for free.

These are called Addon Domains and it is really easy to set up through your hosting control panel using the Addon Domains link. For example, you buy domain1.com & host it.

You then buy domain2.com but you want it to be a completely separate website with its own look & different content. All you need to do is to set it up as an Addon Domain rather than paying for another web hosting packages.

The first thing that you need to do is to amend the nameservers of any domains that you wish to addon to be exactly the same as those of your main hosting domain.

You can verify these settings via the whois. If you need to change your nameservers then use the link to see how.Once you have done this please watch & listen to the following tutorial which will demonstrate how to add a new domain.

(Free) Email & Web Forwarding

This is useful if you have some free webspace provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) & you want to redirect your domain name to it or if you have an email address (eg: [email protected]) & you want to redirect emails addressed to your domain name to that address so that it appears more professional (please note that email forwarding is one way – you can redirect incoming emails but you can not send out emails from it).

We have prepared a video tutorial to show you how to set up email forwarding and we have prepared another to show you how to set up web forwarding.
